Custom fireplace surrounds, mantels, and full remodels for Tampa Bay homes. Built to fit the wall, finished to last.
Most fireplace remodels start the same way: an existing box that looks like an afterthought. We tear it down to the right starting point and build the surround from scratch. That means proportions sized to the wall, a mantel built for the room, and a finish you actually chose.
We work with a range of materials and finishes. Plaster and limewash for a contemporary or European look. Shiplap or board and batten for something more relaxed. Painted wood for a traditional mantel. Every project starts with the fireplace opening and works outward from there.
This service covers:
This homeowner wanted the fireplace to become the focal point of the room rather than just something tucked in a corner. We built a full surround with flanking shelving units on either side, a built-up mantel, and a clean plaster finish. The whole wall reads as one piece.
View all our work →A surround that's too narrow or a mantel that's too tall throws off the whole wall. We work from the fireplace opening outward, sizing the surround and mantel to the room so the proportions feel natural, not forced.
Plaster wants a different substrate than shiplap. Wood mantels need different joinery than tile surrounds. We choose materials that are appropriate for the finish you want, not whatever's fastest to install.
The surround is scribed to the wall and trimmed out properly so there are no visible gaps, no caulk lines doing the work of carpentry. It looks like it was built into the house because it was.
In most cases we work with the existing firebox and just rebuild the surround, facing, and mantel around it. We'll assess the existing structure during the estimate and let you know what needs to change and what can stay.
We've done plaster and limewash, painted wood, shiplap, board and batten, tile removal and replacement, and stone veneer. If you have a specific look in mind, bring reference photos and we'll tell you how we'd get there.
Yes. We rough in the framing and build the surround around the insert. You choose the unit; we build the wall around it. For new electrical, we coordinate with your electrician so everything is done in the right order.
Most fireplace surround projects run 2 to 5 days on-site depending on scope. If we're building flanking shelving or a full wall treatment at the same time, add a few days. We give you a clear schedule before we start.
We work throughout the greater Tampa Bay area. Wherever you are, get in touch and we'll let you know if we serve your neighborhood.
